Janet Perry, Cary NC
Three-dimensional turtles.
Janet wanted something “summery and fun” to finish off this project. I chose shells, waves, and coral. It looks amazing!
Carol Marshall
The Bears love this beautiful, 74" x 85" quilt with minkee backing. The flower theme was carried over onto the backing, and the end result is simply beautiful. Don’t be afraid to consider minkee for any size quilt.
Christina Bohanek, Chapel Hill NC
Christina made this gorgeous baby quilt for her friend. Hey, can I be your friend?
Rachel Sumney
This round quilt is stunning! Bargello techniques make this butterfly move! Lots of SID and background fill.
Celeste Lestienne, Thimble Pleasures, Carrboro NC
Celeste chose a thick wool batting for this quilt she made for her daughter Annie. The wool gives a beautiful, lofty look and feel. Thimble Pleasures carries a variety of batting choices including wool, silk and bamboo. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
Twing Pitmann, Chapel Hill NC
Twing designed this quilt for her son and his family. It is a “map” of the tropical field station they run in Amazonian, Peru. Hundreds of appliquéd pieces were constructed from feed sacks that are used to deliver food supplies.
Twing’s version of this Blooming 9 patch is outstanding! Appliquéd Butterflies were flying randomly over the quilt.
The butterfly and name were all paper-pieced. Lots of SID and custom detail makes this a very special quilt for a lucky little girl. I’m sure she will cherish it forever.
Faye Martin, Pittsboro NC
Faye is a brilliant hand-quilter. I always feel privileged when Faye asks me to machine quilt her work.
Julie Holbrook, Thimble Pleasures, Carrboro NC
A thick wool batting really makes this baby quilt warm and cuddly!
Kitty Felten, Chapel Hill, NC
A double honorable mention was awarded at the DOQ show in October 2008 for this beautiful quilt: to Kitty for her piecing, and to Margaret for the machine quilting.
J. William, Chapel Hill, NC
Johnny’s Latte Quilt
Honey L., Aspen, CO
Kim D. Chicago, IL

Kim D.: Three Bears Quilting can offer hundreds of border-to-border designs for 2 cents per inch. A second border (all four sides) would add just $20.00.
Karen West, Thimble Pleasures, Carrboro NC
This Irish chain is over the top! If we’re lucky, we can talk Karen into teaching a class on this quilt at Thimble Pleasures.
Rosalind McMillan, Chapel Hill, NC
Tammy Triglianos, Chapel Hill, NC
Other custom quilts
This vintage hand appliqué quilt was custom-quilted using lots of outlining and careful placement of designs.
